When you start online dating it is very easy to make a mistake because most people think that online is like meeting someone in person. Although it is easier to meet someone online because it is easy you can sometimes lose you inhibitions. This can be a good thing but it can also be disastrous.
Some people just get nervous when they start online dating and they have a different perception of what it is like or what it is about than with face to face dating.
So, in order to help you determine this problem, here are 8 ways to avoid online dating mistakes:
- Creating a profile without a picture. Some people are afraid that if people know exactly what they look like they won’t want talk to them. This is far from the truth because most people really want to get to know others. The picture tells people that this is a real person and not someone who is just playing around.
- Having a bad or desperate attitude is everything. People who are successful with online dating do it because it is fun and not because they are looking to get laid or to find the right person to marry. Instead, they enjoy meeting new people and they have fun on each date. Don’t you know that the right person always shows up when you are not looking?
- Lying on the profile or in emails or chat. Many people are tempted to lie in their profiles because they think it is smart or cute. For those people who are seriously about online dating, lying can be a complete turn off. Better to be honest and straight forward and tell the truth.
- Trying to take things too fast. Online dating can take longer to build a relationship so have fun with it. There should be no rush unless you are there for something other than dating. Start out by talking to lots of people and then you can always narrow it down to just a few.
- Ignoring your intuition. When your gut tells you something you really need to listen. When you don’t listen you will be sure to get into a bad situation. Instead only go out with people who are interesting to you.
- Being too sleazy. Although some men like sleazy women they rarely build real relationships with them. Many women and men think that taking about their sexual prowess or insinuating sexual things will turn someone on. Well, it might turn some on for a few minutes but it is a turn off for most. Be yourself !
- Thinking that the online dating service is responsible for getting you a date. The online dating service is only there to help you get introduced to other people. You are the one who will get dates or not.
- Sending form emails. Most people can tell when you send the same email out to several people and they will not respond. Instead, send each person an email that says something about their profile.
